Gary, a native of Colorado, loves the outdoors and working with his hands. He and his wife have created much envied outdoor spaces for three homes in Colorado and with each move, spent as much time re-locating plants as furniture. Gary began his career by serving in the United States Air Force as an electronics and computer theory specialist for NORAD. After leaving the military he attended the University of Southern Colorado earning a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering Technology. Gary has filled Civil Engineering positions in Oregon and Colorado and spent the better part of fifteen years in design engineering for The Philip Morris Companies specifically developing Mission Viejo, California and The New Town of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. For the last thirteen years, Gary has served as a Senior Development Engineer for Douglas County, Colorado one of the top ten fastest growing counties in the USA. In this capacity, he reviewed, revised, and accepted countless different projects, including many hotels, restaurants, golf courses and their related communities; the most notable of these include Remax’s Sanctuary golf course, The International at Castle Pines and Perry Park. Additionally, he has worked on the reclamation of a landfill to become a sports complex, the redevelopment of The Castle on Cherokee Ranch to become an events center, local reservoirs and recreational areas, and the ongoing erosion and revegetation efforts related to the 2002, 136,000 acre Hayman forest fire. Mr. Walter often lectures about such topics as forest fires, stream ecology, erosion control, and the redevelopment of Daniels Park, CO to educational institutions and professional organizations. Gary is a certified Floodplain Manager, is active with CASFM (Colorado Association of Stormwater & Floodplain Managers), ASFPM (Assoc. of State Floodplain Managers), serves on the Denver Mountain Parks Master Plan Advisory Committee, has been selected to serve on an Advisory Committee for the South Metro Water Supply Authority, has been invited by the Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute to provide input and criteria for design and development guidelines for the Rocky Mountain Region, and he serves on the Board of Directors for the 1615 GC Media Project.

An avid soccer/football enthusiast, he has played and refereed the sport for more than 25 years. He has travelled widely and currently resides in Castle Rock, Colorado with his wife and two Maine Coon cats Conan and Eric.
